CJ decided to change angles and take a photo from behind and near the underside of the "Levitated Mass" today. You can see how large it is here. We also wanted to get a bit creative by capturing a sun flare.
Initially, the rock was supposed to be attached to the sides of the wall to give the optical illusion of it levitating but the authorities deemed it too heavy and dangerous. Therefore, it had to be installed with support shelves. It's for the best, CJ and I would not want to be flattened by a 340-ton boulder! π§ββοΈπ
What a PoV for you intrepid photographers....and this in an earthquake zone!?!? I mean, I really like rock and roll but this puts a entirely new take on that.
@granagringa - I didn't even think about earthquakes! Oh man now I really don't wanna be under it again! LA authorities do much with earthquakes in mind and thousands of dollars were donated to transport it here (I know...all for a rock!) so I'm sure they have something in place to protect it but still. lol
