Finally got to see the sun today! It was warm and sunny for most of the day.
I really like these little bees. They have the coolest greenish-blue stripes. They are in the sweat bee family. This one is gathering pollen from yarrow flowers. In the past, yarrow was used for medicinal purposes. It has anti-inflammatory agents in it. I wonder if I could use it on my bad knee? :0)
I'm enjoying my wildflower and insect guide! I didn't know what yarrow was until I looked it up today.
Many thanks to everyone who commented and faved on Blue M's picture yesterday!!! :0)
Fabulous macro Carolyn. I love this project because as well as enjoying the gorgeous photos, I also learn so much. Yarrow hey - must look that one up myself.
Wow! Amazing bee! I've never seen a bee with those colours before, although before this project I didn't know there were blue/green bees either. I wonder what other colour bees there are around the world.
We only have the black and yellow bumble bees, black "worker" bees and the bumble bees which are black with red bottoms.
