This lovely Question Mark butterfly stayed on this plant long enough for me to take several pics. The plant is Poison Hemlock. Every part of it is poisonous and it is the type of hemlock that was used to execute Socrates.
It's a beautiful plant, but it has a terrible smell! My wildflower book says it usually emits a pungent, foul odor and they weren't kidding!
It was very popular with the insects today, but I think I spent a little too much time around it. The stinky plant mixed with the heat and loud cicadas made me feel a little queasy.

This is a pretty Butterfly for sure,, and a very good way for the plant to defend its self... kill and stink, you wont get eaten that way. lol well not for long anyway!
