I asked my stepdad if he had seen any caterpillars, cool bugs, or spiders. He told me there was a Black and Yellow Garden Spider beside the garage. He forgot to tell me it was HUGE! I was really careful how close I got to it. It gave me goosebumps!
Apologies to my followers who don't like spiders. I'm not crazy about them either, but I think it's kind of cool looking. :0)
Thank you so much for your views, comments and faves!!! They are very much appreciated! :0)
Oh gosh...this scared me when I opened the page! Yikes! Very brave of you to get so close. It does have pretty colors and I really like how the web almost looks like smoke. Nicely done!
That's the same as mine! I was afraid the first time I shot it, but felt better the second time because they really do just sit still and wait for something to get caught in their webs. Your spider is probably female like mine, so it's more round and longer than the males, They rarely bite humans, and their bite is pretty harmless. I've had mine in the same spot for weeks...I check on her, and she's looking good. Sorry for all the writing...I learned all of this this summer and was excited to see you got one too. I have bothered mine for shoots about 5 times. They take out the zig zag and make a new one each night. I love your spider. :-)
i believe and i can be mistaken but this is the St Andrews Cross Spider and pretty harmless and yes grows pretty large. I have one on the side of my house and its been there for about 3 weeks now...it has now create a cross in the center of the web...pretty cool shot
They tend to stay put in the web...so no fear necessary. They are definitely more scared of you, I can assure you. Fantastic capture of his bulbous butt! ;)
Argh! Have you ever been all zoomed in, with the camera near the creepy thing, and you take a shot, then move a bit, so you move the camera back as you are viewing through the display and then imagine as you move the camera back to where you can see it it is just FACE First in your FACE, fang bared, about to attack?! Argh. I do. I did that with a praying mantis yesterday...it was tiny, but it gave me the creeps looking through the display to find it again.
Interesting-looking web. Is there no end to your bugs? I mean, I'm not looking for an end at all, just amazed at how many you find! This guy is really pretty!
