Winter visitor by cjwhite

Winter visitor

My daughter, Alissa, gave me a Birds of Tennessee Field Guide for Christmas. I needed it for this little bird. It's a White-Throated Sparrow and it's a winter visitor in our state.

Thank you so much for your kind comments on the pics I posted of my grandchildren!!! :0)

I've gotten behind on my commenting. I tried to catch up last night, but I couldn't keep my eyes open! I'm hoping to do better tonight. I had a very relaxing day with my camera today.
What a nice Christmas gift! You're already putting it to good use! Nice photo!

Oh he has gorgeous markings on his little wing Carolyn - I love him. Fabulous present - your daughter obviously knows you well.

I love field guides like that. Probably would be better to have a state guide as opposed to a complete North American guide like I have.

@murnane Thank you, Marg! She's so funny! She asked me for ideas and I told her I would like to have a bird book. I had several presents to unwrap and she told me I had to unwrap a certain one first. It was a bird book, but it was a children's book with Big Bird from Sesame Street. LOL! I don't know where she gets it. Maybe from her Mom, who slipped a fake lottery ticket in with the real ones in her Christmas stocking. :0)

I love all the different tones in his wings they certainly make a plain brown bird look rather pretty. Unfortunately the sparrow is a bit of a pest here.

You got a great picture of this bird. Mine was on the ground and all the grass was a distraction. I really appreciate you letting me know what kind of bird I had taken.
