We went out over the moors today and stopped at Lastingham village which has a small pub with roaring fire and candles in the middle of the day! It turned out they were in the middle of a power cut, but it was really atmospheric and I hope this photo gives the feel of a very old world pub.

We got such a surprise it was like going back to a different era. The poor landlord was run ragged, every one still turned up wanting a meal, luckily they still had gas so they had a reduced menu and the place buzzed with contented customers!!
