Roseberry is picturesque from any angle and this shot shows the deep track that is being carved into the mountain by walker. It becomes deeper and wider each year which is a problem. Many years ago they helicoptered in large stone pieces to re- enforce the track but it’s long been buried under the mud churned up by many treckers feet.
Nice on black
Thank you for all your lovely comments and favs all are appreciated and welcome.
Beautiful shot and tons. We have similar problems with land erosion caused by too many tourists. Some roads have been paved. It stopped the destruction of meadows, but it is less fun to wander.
It is a problem where the rock is sandstone or chalk or some similar softer material. I can see the appeal though - I would want to pull my boots on and get up there too!
What a lovely shot with the sun lighting the top of the mountain. The damage isn’t great but it does make a nice image of the snaking path.
I suppose it’s good in one way that people are sticking to the path and not trampling over the surrounding greenery.
A splendid shot, with the sunlight highlighting the upper pary of the hill - fav! I confess to being one of the many walkers who have been up there (several times). I don't remember this direct path up being stone covered to prevent erosion, though I do remember the work on the Cleveland Way path over here. Much of the erosion on that path has now been fully restored, and the path blends into the landscape really well, looking very much like a traditional stone flagged packhorse route.
