I love this sculpture and have tried many times to take a photo of it as I pass by. This time I managed, not the best image but it does give you an idea of the size which is 16 metres or 53ft high. It stands on a rounderbout at the Newton Aycliffe Industrial Estate, so only a chance of a quick snap as you pass it by. It was built by sculptor Joseph Hillier to celebrate the North East’s industrial heritage and erected in 2009. It includes five laser cut figures which appear to be working and climbing on the grid of welded steel.

Thank you for all your comments and favs all are very welcome and appreciated.
What a stunning sculpture -- I had never heard or seen this before . ! The size is emphasised by the figures climbing and working on the grid-work ! -- lovely shot to share with us ! fav
Wow! Wonderful capture of this amazing sculpture! I had never heard of this before so I googled it and found some very interesting information and photos of the fabrication process behind this 'In Our Image' sculpture. Thank you so much for this incredible learning experience, Margaret! :-)
Great shot of the building of the statue.
So glad you enjoyed it, I’ve lost count of the times I have tried to catch it but this time I was determined!!
