A few photos of the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation out in the Everglades. The Everglades ("River of Grass") consists of swampy areas and hammock areas with dry land. The Seminoles never lived in teepees. Instead they built chickee huts with thatched roofs made of palm fronds (certainly there is an abundant supply). I am always fascinated of how well built these huts are.
The photo on the bottom left shows part of their ceremonial grounds (very open and dry). They built their canoes from cypress trees.
The photo on the bottom right shows some of their wares. I remember having at least one of these dolls as a child.
