I'm in stitches--literally. This is my favorite challenge on 365 because it really challenges me to look at things in new ways and learn new skills.
So today, there is actual sun out. I had an editing job I needed to finish, and I'm looking outside my office window thinking, dangit, I gotta get to my location if I'm going to get ANY light. I finish. I grab my bag (oh, and tell my kids--hey, I gotta go take a photo--wanna go? "no." WHEW!); I run outside to get some quick settings so I don't fiddle with cameras/stuff at the location (I didn't even know if I could park and may have to take out of a car window--so yeah, perfect ONS--it could be messy and something to regret the next day...hehe). I'm following a truck that could not be slower--I wanted to scream, "Man, do you see that light going behind a cloud--MOVE IT." But I just fidget in the car.
Alas, my location. I've DREAMED of taking a photo of it--I've wanted to go inside, but it's a private residence actually, but it is a legend in this parts--I'm not divulging the location or it's name yet because tomorrow, I'm going back to make it a travel shot. Nothing like going back for more after you've been on a ONS--sheesh!
I didn't intend to share this shot today, but as I'm saving going back tomorrow to make it a travel shot, I thought, I'll pull out the zoom and see any details that stand out for the theme-o-the-day. This is up at the top of the residence--most things are made of cement, but I can tell you that the residence features Georgia granite and marble.
I can also tell you that the iron fence to this place is actually one architectural detail I know about. Why, you might ask? Because an architectural student drove up and got out of her car to take photos -- I KID YOU NOT! (I was secretly hoping it was a fellow 365er in the world out to play Jerry's challenge!). She informed me the gates to the place are a great example of "Modern Gothic Revival Iron." Holy cow, I knew I was in the right place. Oh, and just as a side note, as I was doing all my geeky photography, a man on a motorcycle drove down the street behind me and said, "TAKE A PICTURE OF ME!" So I did as he rode off into the distance with both hands raised high in the air (and out of focus as I was still in manual mode for THIS SHOT!)--I was saying to myself that I sure hope someone does that again on "STREET DAY." Just confirmation that ONS5 is destined to be fun.
Oh, you will be shocked tomorrow--nothing like buildup, right?
Want to join in on the fun?
