This is when a wide angle lens would be nice, so just imagine I have one!
Yesterday, I took my architectural photo
http://365project.org/darylo/365/2013-07-08 from this same location, AKA "Dwarf Castle"--a roadside attraction (it is really a residence) in the town of Roswell, GA at the intersection of Hwy 140 and Cagle Road. It's called Dwarf Castle because at each entrance, small gnomes (most likely the better term to use) greet the resident who goes home to this lovely castle! Oh, and what a castle. Not only do you have the gnomes (yes, they are freaky), you have a swimming pool mote that goes around the entire house (the only way to know there is a pool is to see some silver rungs where steps lead out AND in the back, a diving board jutts out from the small building on the right of the castle--weird snowmen like things also adorn that area).
I love to travel, and I love to capture a bit of Americana--how fortunate that I can bring you this gem from my own back yard (well, around the bend some).
Here's a little background to enjoy as you view the photo; if I had a travel brochure to go with this, it would include this information to entice you to visit:
"Not many, besides fairy tale Princesses, get to live in a castle and you certainly don't find many castles in this agricultural corridor of northern Georgia. But one truck driver decided to change that.
According to the county, the house was begun in 1950 and was built by Rudy and Ruth McLaughlin. Rudy was a long-haul truck driver who told his wife he would build her a castle - and did! It was heavy work -- mortar and concrete for the roof was lifted in five-gallon buckets.
The home is surrounded by a wrought iron fence and features gnomes -- though some call them dwarfs and hence the name -- guarding the lawn. A swimming pool surrounding the castle doubles as a moat. The two-bedroom house is a little over 1400 square feet and has two garages. The garages are only accessible via a drawbridge.
As this is a private home, it is not open for tours--but it is still quite a curiosity to behold from the road." To see more photos from the site I just quoted (frankly, I think my photo would be good for the site):

Sorry so late in posting. I'm appropriately burned to a crisp because the sun did, in fact, emerge today, and we promptly went to the lake to test the efficacy of our new sunscreen (the budget kind--test #1--um, fail!). Cheers everyone.
Wanna join in on the awesome fun
