One Week Later--Kapow! Bradford Pear

Note: click on the Monthly view of March and you'll see the process from bud to bloom for 7 trees/shrubs I'm tracking for Macro March. Each day of the week represents the same bud of the plant (one week later).

I mentioned last week that the Bradford Pear is one of those trees that are pretty to observe but painful to smell--eww. They also, as compared to any of the trees/shrubs I'm following over each week this month, grow very quickly. This is why they are planted a lot by new home developers who want a tree to complement the yard quickly so people buy the homes. Thank goodness, our builder opted for the cherry tree over the Bradford Pear in our yard because I like these from afar.

For the purpose of my weekly observance, I can't say I have the same bud as all the buds were in full bloom when I took this shot Sunday! But I think this one is very close to the exact bloom from last week: http://365project.org/darylo/365/2014-03-09 .

It's possible that the third week, you'll see the green leaves next on this tree as it won't hold bloom too long. But at least one bud really showed a difference in one week's time! Such a fun project for the month.

Thanks to everyone for their comments on what I'm doing. I am really enjoying the weekly visits! On to Week 3 of spring watch, macro style! :)

Simply gorgeous.

@cdonohoue @jamibann Thanks so much! Today is raining hard, so I'm not looking forward to Monday's shot. :/

Beautiful blossom Daryl! Well worth the wait over the last couple of weeks - so glad they blossomed in the time frame :-)

@vfox Thanks Victoria, I'm afraid Monday's shot will look about the same for the one plant, just more green shoots (and greys because I'm going to be in the rain--boo)! The Cherry should blossom some more this week, and it's my favorite!

This is very pretty blossom with pink instead of the usual yellow in the centre - lovely shot!

Love the bradford pear (in someone else's yard) Our town has loads of them (at least those that have been destroyed by storms - don't seem too hardy when the winds blow!). Ours just opened this weekend. Waiting on the japonica. Not sure where you live but we seem to be in a close growing zone! Lovely picture of the bradford bloom - and I thoroughly enjoyed reading your bio.

Beautiful! I have three of these trees in my weekend place yard. Tried to get a shot of the bloom late yesterday, but it was late so the light was gone & I was trying to stand on a small stool to reach the bloom & kept swaying. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to get a shot like yours!!!

Very pretty. They remind me of the apple blossoms on our farm back in Connecticut 50 years ago.

Spring has sprung by the looks of things.

Wow -- this is stellar as a focus on the flower and a sign of spring/growth. I like your angle and the DoF you chose. It highlights the flowers beautifully. They really did pop in just a week! We are SOOO far behind you! I can't even find a sprout!
