The toilet paper roll has this written on it: Turning 15? Oh Crap. You'll be driving soon! Inside the roll is "cash," which was her request. As children age, the gifting thing is so much harder, so cash works for me!
Oh and the flowers are in a vase my daughter made in her ceramics course her freshman year in HS. On to the sophomore year!
We go tomorrow on her birthday to see if she can pass the test for a learner's permit.
I have photos to develop--a friend of mine from HS came to visit from the west coast and I took him on a photo walk on our nice Beltline, with a stop for a bite, some more sunset shots, and then a night stop at the famous Jackson Street Bridge. I'm beat!
I kinda wish I had a 15 year old. My youngest just turned 26 last Wednesday. Although, now that I think about it, I really don't want to teach another person how to drive. Good luck!
@tahoemb I was telling someone that I will regret all the thoughts and things I have said about wanting the kids grown and gone, but for now, it's all about getting through school and getting driving. And CLEANING THEIR FREAKING ROOMS! HAHA
Happy birthday to your lovely daughter! You are truly blessed Daryl I would have loved children especially a daughter! They grow up so quickly though don't they? Enjoy your celebrations with both your girls!
A terrific commemorative shot of her birthday. So hard to believe that Aidan is already 15 and of drivable age! Cherish each moment as I know you do. Happy birthday to her !
I've just realised your daughter is driving at 15. Wow, that's young. What age can she get her full license? Here they have to be 16 to learn, 17 for full license.
@888rachel 15 for a year to train with me and to take a driver's course, but she can drive behind wheel as long as I am in car. We do lots of training in parking lots first (and actually started at 14.5 without permission, but it was in a very remote area). At 16, she will take a "road test" for a license that will allow her to drive without me, but can only take family members in car. At 16.5, she can take one other person in the car that is not family. At 17, she can take 3 others. At 18 full license (it's probably without curfew, which is included in the other years at midnight). Nerve wracking, yes, but honestly, my kids seem to be the only ones excited to drive! So many of their friends don't want the license or are in no hurry. As a parent who loves the new freedom, I like them driving, but we are pretty rigorous on them.
