Daily Life

So many of my street scene shots in Bali are in the car while we travel to a new destination. On this day, we drove through small villages with rough, narrow roads until we reached the rice terraces up in the mountains. This scene is a typical view as we toured. People were always "loaded down" with things, whether on a head, back, or on a moto (sometimes the motos would be piled so high, you really thought everything would just topple over--but nothing ever did). You can see in the background the lush mountainscape rising above the road. We were about to head on up to find the rice terraces.

Isn't it amazing to see the size of loads that people can carry on their heads ?! You have caught a terrific one here!
