In Memorium

Wide-angle experimentation with grave stones.
Well done, Daryl. How moving. Excellent creative idea.

A very original approach to the subject -- I like the odd effect of the wide angle lens.

Interesting effect. I can't decide of it is lying flat or upright.

That's eerie. These grave photos have always been a bit macabre for me, and seeing one positioned like this seems to represent a fading memory.

@rvwalker The entire grave yard was really a mixture of fading and emerging. Two fresh graves, lots of abandoned ones and a sense of history. I'm oddly not a fan of grave sites. They remind me of Ozymandias. Fading. This old cemetery is couched between a soccer clu and a dog training facility, but down the road from an old Methodist church that at one time was all was in the area. A zoning issue if I ever saw one. Makes me want to spend a few days weeding the area. I agree on your other comment about the killdeer that they must have been busy distracting me from the nest. The entry to the grave yard is gravel. Hope they weren't there. :(

@darylo I do like to photograph graveyards, but more of the ghost town variety. There are hundreds of forgotten sites in the west, and I feel like I am preserving memories when I explore and record them. Some will disappear completely soon. Urban graveyards are a different story, and I struggle with them.

@rvwalker At one time, this was a fully rural site. This area was 100% farmland not too long ago.
