A view from Mangawhai Heads (East coast, north of Auckland). We had a night up there to take my nearly 90 year old mother to see my sister and brother-in-law's building site. Didn't get many photos as today was very wet - woke to a HUGE ongoing thunder storm - had my camera, but the tripod was down in the car…. bit risky to retrieve it with all the forked lightning around….
Ah yes, best to avoid encountering the lighting for the sake of a tripod. Wise idea! What catches my eye about this picture are the layers of brown and blue, land and water, land and sky. Pretty, even if that sky does look a tad menacing.
