Kaimoana

Kaimoana - or food from the sea. These mussels had been washed from the rocks during rough seas. I don't know how long they'd been on the beach, but it would have been unwise to eat them. They have lovely colours in their shells when you look up close.
Gorgeous colours, definitely not to be eaten though.

They are very colourful ... Perhaps the fisherman could of used them for bait...

Such beautiful marking on those shells but they never look as rich & delicious when you take the away from their surroundings somehow! The shells seem to lose their sea deliciousness when you put the on the windowsill in the bathroom!

I wouldn't eat them either, but they do look very yummy. I love fresh mussels, easily obtained not far from home and very cheap.
