We are very fortunate to have two beautiful railraod stations in our hometown. Unfortunately they are not in use. Several weeks ago I posted a photo of the other railroad station in our town and stated that there was talk of reopening the station for some limited passenger service, but we still haven't heard the outcome of those talks. This particular station had last been occupied by a local realtor and is now for sale. If you are interested I am sure I could hook you up. I again tried to capture some of the exterior structural features that I think make this another beautifully preserved historic landmark. We drive by these building every day and we really take them for granted, but in reality, they are so important. My Father remembers when both of these stations were fully operational. I think it would be so neat to have the service restored. I'm sorry if the photos are a bit dark, but I waited until the sun went down a bit to avoid some of the glare. Hope you enjoy.
It seems your town is full of historical buildings! You are lucky to have so many of them well taken care of and restored. Beautiful shots and collage. (My "innocent" puppy wasn't framed...but he'd like you to believe he was.)
Yes, I agree it would be interesting to have the service restored. I'd love to ride on a train. I would welcome the opportunity to go across the state....in a little slower mode of transportation. Very nice pictures...love the coloring in these.
These old buildings are beautiful -- love your collage. There is a lovely old train-station near Stroudsburg, PA that has been made into a beautiful restaurant. I remember my grandmother talking about travelling by train when she was young -- it was an all day trip to go, visit briefly, and then return home from destination that only now takes 2-3hours round-trip. Of course that was a BIG improvement over the alternates which were horse & buggy or walking.
It's a shame a beautiful old building like this can't be turned into something wonderful for the public to enjoy... Too bad it's not still a railroad station! Imagine what lovely times those must have been when it was used in that fashion! I wonder if they appreciated it back then...
Wow, the building doesn't look old at all! I read a lot of books where people wait at train stations (I like books from the old days), and this gives me a something to picture as I read.
What a gorgeous building! Love the red.
It looks like, despite the fact that it is not used as a railway station any longer, that it's been preserved quite well.
