Back when we celebrated Veterans Day, I posted a photo of my Grandfather who had served in World War One (1914 - 1918) He served as a machine gun operator. He shared a story with me of the time a hand grenade exploded near him, leaving him very hard of hearing. This is a photo of his Air Raid Whistle that he carried with him, and he told me whenever they saw enemy planes approaching, they would blow the whistle. This whistle is stamped J. Hudson & Company. It still works quite well, and it's another precious keepsake of my Family's history.
Hi, Rick, You asked where I am that our trees are just beginning to turn. I am in Charleston, SC right near the coast. Much slower here. Still haven't had a freeze! Yea! I can handle it! Have you had snow yet?
BTW, I have really appreciated all of your comments over the past couple of weeks ... Thank you!
Thanks for sharing with us this photo and the beautiful story behind.
