Today I did something I truly enjoy. We went to an auction. It is always fun looking at all the old items, and also fun watching what some of the items bring. It all depends on who is there and what they want. The auction today was filled with a nice variety of old items, some went very high. I was lucky enough to be the winning bidder on this little cast iron pup. I was also lucky enough to be the winning bidder on another cast iron cat penny bank. I really do not need these items, but I enjoy collecting things like this. It is part of what makes life fun. My Wife enjoys it too, so it's something we can do together and enjoy. We are going to another one tomorrow. Don't know what we'll find at that one.

I confess I love browsing and looking at things- unlike my husband I rarely bring anything home. However, I might have brought that cute little boy home. Lovely find and shot.
Antique shops and auctions are fun. The excitement of an auction is contagious. Someone once said 'collecting is a way of being' meaning I think that a persons collections hint at the person inside...I have a collection of little symbols of religion from all around the world...they remind me of where I got them too :)
I love auctions but don't go much anymore just for the reason you mentioned...I don't need any more "stuff" ...yet it is nice that you and your wife both enjoy this hobby.
I've never been to an auction - afraid I might buy something when all I wanted to do was scratch my head. :) Isn't is nice when our spouse loves doing the same things we do? Still trying to get my sweetheart addicted to photography - he understands aperture now. :)

Great piece. Loved your comments. I haven't been to an auction in years but used to love to go. I also love antique stores and second-hand or thrift shops but don't do that much anymore either. Kind of miss it.
I've never been brave enough to bid on anything at an auction, but there's an antique store close to my work. Every now and again I'll go there on my lunch hour to see what treasures I can find.
