I was out for a walk this evening and stumbled across this little stone run off on the side of a hill. I played around with my camera and different angles and I liked the perspective. It reminded me of someone climbing up a rugged hillside, able to see the crest of the hill. It appears to be calling out, enticing one to make the climb, if for any reason, just to see what's on the other side. It also reminded me of life and how many of the paths along our life's journey seem to take us up a rugged hillside like this. Life's journey is not always downhill, rather we often find ourselves trekking up a rugged hillside like this. Journeys like this are not easy, but they do build character. There are many valuable lessons to be learned on the "rugged" roads of life.
I really love the angle of this one too, and your words really hit home for me. I've got to try experiementing with black and white. Your photos inspire me.
Before I read the entire comment, I thought, "Wow the angle makes it look like the top of a mountain!" And that's exactly what you said. Such a truthful commentary. The best things in life are never easy, so I'm learning to accept some of the rugged parts of the road more readily now. Thanks again for another thought provoking picture Rick!
i too, love how you weave your photographs with your thoughts, just as meredith mentioned!!! your so good at both! i really like the jagged rocks...and the perspective really does make it feel like someone is climning to the top of a hill. great shot rick! love that you chose to edit this in B&W :)
I'm always lookng forward to your captions and as as to the pictures.
love the angle and that there is the tree in it as well.My climbing days are over so I enjoy doing it in pictures only.
Great words to live by, Rick! The perspective on this, in more ways than one, is a lovely way to describe the journey of a life. Sometimes it is sheer determination that gets us up that rugged climb, sometimes it is the help of another. Your words always seem to help me, Rick. Thank you for that.
Looks beautiful...I like the way you shot it uphill.....I would love to see it in color. Did you just shoot it in b&w? Normally, I will shoot something in color and then switch it to b&w if I like the composition.
I do agree, but the conversation about the green on the other sidce beeing greener is a lie, I know you did not say it, but I am just reaffirming that.
The photo is beautiful, the perspective is really nice
