It was a nice morning, a little cloudy, and though it looked like we might get some rain, we did not. I took advantage of the quiet morning and went for a stroll. As I walked along the only dry pathway I could find, I came across this broken down gate. The surrounding area was covered in broken brances and other dead debris from the nearby trees. There in the midst of all the rubble, this new sprout made its way up from the soil. How appropriate I thought. On this day, I was reminded, how on that dreadful day, September 11, 2001. out of an extreme hate, the terrible events of 911 began to unfold. In their attempt to bring America to its knees in defeat, a few radicals set out to leave their mark. As a result, thousands did perish, both the vicitms of the attacks, and also the brave men and women who attempted to rescue as many of the vicitms as possible. Well, the attacks brought America to its knees, but not in defeat, rather, Americans far and near, and many other friends from around the world, fell to their knees, in prayer. Out of the rubble sprouted new life, a beautiful life of unity in prayer and support. As a Nation we pulled together, and with the support of so many of our other friends from around the world, America survived. As a Nation we became stronger, more determined to stop the hatred. We stood with other Nations who suffred similar attacks, and so it should be. So on this 10th Anniversary of 911, we take time to reflect, to remember, not only the victims of this vicious and cowardly attack, but also the men and women who gave their lives trying to save those who fell that dreadful day. May this day never be forgotten. May God Bless all those who live on in a void because of their great personal loss. And it is our prayer that no other Nation would suffer such a tragic event. Remembering 911.
Great tribute, Rick. The world forever changed. I still can't believe it has been 10 years ago - it feels more recent. Toronto had its own threat not long ago with bomb scares in the subway and major downtown buildings.
This is a really beautiful tribute, Rick, and it reminds me of the sermon in church this morning. I've been humming "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me...." all day.
Wonderful picture and wonderful thoughts! Thanks for sharing them -- good to hear some very positive words -- some acknowledgement of what really happened -- the faith, the prayers, the growth that rose out of the ashes (as opposed to promulgating the hate!)
Good photo - and a nice tribute Rick.
We watched a programme on what they have built on the 911 site. It will be a beautiful & peaceful place visit when it is finished.
We should never forget what happened there.
Beautful tribute, Rick. All over the world as in Australia we watched the live coverage in NY & the Pentagon and great that people did not let this eveil deed pevent them from moving forward.Truly from the ashes the phoenix will rise.
Love the words that you expressed, and a country can never be defeated while it has PRAYER. I think we all tend to slip and get caught up in worldly things and forget to ask God for His Blessing but most of all Thank Him for our many Blessings which we can take for granted. Instead many people blame Him for their misfortunes, we have been given free will, we do just that, willfully go off the rails and then lay the blame elsewhere. Man hates and does all the evil, not God He is a merciful God that loves us to Pray to have His help.
Nature will find a way to survive, and so do we...
