Initially I didn't think this was going to be a good photo. I liked the cloud cover and how it appeared through this tree, so I just held up the camera and shot it from the hip. When I returned home I checked out the photos I had taken, and this is the one I kept coming back to. Now I realize it is not a "great" photo. It is simple, but yet it appears complex with all the branches, and there is something about it that speaks to me. I played around with various textures, and this is the one I liked best. Sometimes the simple pleasures in life hold the most meaning, and through photography one learns to look at even the simple things as art in its various forms. Photography has offered me a new set of eyes, and I have learned to really enjoy nature, and all the beauty it has to offer. I've always lived a busy lfe, and it was always difficult for me to relax without feeling guilty. When we would take a vacaton, it would take me a few days to unwind and even begin to relax, and by then it was soon time to return home. As I get older I am finding the quiet times to be so much more meaningful and refreshing, and it is something I look forward to at the end of a busy day. Hope you all had a wonderful Monday.
Why isn't this a good photo? It is inviting and I like the feeling of layers with light and dark. I like it, then again, I have yet to see a photo of yours that I don't love. :)
I think it's very soothing. I like the layering you achieved with the textured overlay. And as always, you have written something lovely to go along with it. My motto (if you want to call it that) is "simple is better". It's not good English, but it's true. This is simple. This is better. (o:
This reminds me of a Japanese print, and I think it is quite lovely, as are your words, as always. Photography is teaching me to slow down and appreciate the simpler things too.
This is so restful looking. I am glad you are finding it easier to relax. At my age I live only right now and strive to make everyday full of joy. Not only for myself but for anyone God sends my way. Most of all Gary.
I like this photo.
So true Rick. Bernie too, has a hard time winding down on holidays & we almost need a few more weeks to get the hang of it :D
His job has been full on for many years.
He is retiring soon - just has to set the date by next Monday - we can hardly wait to begin a different life :D
Amen, again, Rick. And I love the photo. One of my favorite things about photography is seeing and making new things from the everyday. It's like being the Create for a few minutes.
