Every time I drive past this farm on my way home, I am so tempted to turn left and follow that lane all the way to the house. It always looks so inviitng and full of country charm. Often times there are a few cows on the hillside which add a beautiful touch to the scene, but unfortuantely today they were elsewhere. It looks so balanced between the cornfield on the one side, and the fence and tree covered hill on the other, and just enough clouds to offset the clean sky. I have been in a black and white mood lately, so I hope you don't mind. I think B/W photographs can be calming in nature, but still they can be quite powerful. I recently looked at a magazine that featured some beautiful black and white photographs, some of which were works by Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams was indeed a master of black and white photogrpahy. He has created so many fabulous photos, but three of my favorites are Moon And Half Dome, Clearing Winter Storm, and Tetons And The Snake River. I find it hard to believe that there would be a photographer that has not checked out Ansel Adams, but if by chance you have not, I encourage you to take a wonderful tour on-line and marvel at his masterpieces. Tomorrow is Wednesday, over the hump day, and it is once again time for our monthly all day nursing leadership meeting, so that means I will be stuck at a table for about 8 hours. Bring on the caffeine. Have a good day everyone.
Everything in your photo is composed so beautifully! What's amazing is that the owners of this piece of land have carved such a serene path and balanced everything that might have been growing wild. No wonder your eye was drawn to the scene, and I fully understand why you'd be curious to know what's up the road!
Some one at work let me borrow his copy of "Camera and Lens" by Ansel Adams. It goes through Ansel's thoughts and techniques in setting up his photos. I've had the book for a while and have not read it yet. I need to do that soon to give him back his book.
This is very effective in black & white I agree but the farmer in me wants to see the green grass & the crops !!! Such a pretty farm & it looks an idyllic place to live, no wonder you want to turn left !!!
lovin the clouds dancing in the sky and the different levels of ground here with the road running through...the cornfields and fence remind me of days long ago..
I hope you do follow the lane one day! Beautiful in b/w, and I agree with you about Ansel Adams. His work is inspiring, and one of my favorite quotes is by him. "You don't take a photograph, you make it." Nice work.
I love your black and white shots of the countryside and nature, Rick. I've got to explore this myself. It might make a nice contrast to my week long search for light. Ansel Adams is one of my daughter's favorite photographers! Her first apartment was full of his prints.
Lovely photo and just imagine coming home to that every night. Maybe or Maybe not. One never knows what goes on behind closed doors. This is certainly outstanding in B & W.
