This morning I drove to my Dad's house to meet the realtor and some friends who are downsizing and wanted to see the house. On my drive there I took a few photos, and out of them all, this one stood out to me. It is a very simple photo, but yet in its simplicity it speaks volumes to me. In this vast open field, this one structure serves such an important purpose in that it serves as a means, a support to the powerlines by which electricity is carried from one point to the next. So are we in this vast world. Though we may sometimes think of ourselves as insignificant, we do serve a larger purpose. The simple things are just as important in the scope of the larger picture. Getting all packed up as we are leaving in the morning. I'm not sure where I will find wireless connections while in Ohio, as my Mother-in-law does not have computer hook-up, but hopefully the nearby McDonals will. I don't think I'll make it with out a night of 365. Have a wonderful night.
It's always the simple things in life, Rick. One smile. One kind word. That's why your photo is so beautiful . . plain, simple, but carries a heavy load. Beautiful color. Travel safe.
I really love the feel and mood of this one, as well as the subject matter. Inspired by you, I've been looking for b&w moments and I finally figured out how to do the textures. They work SO well on your subject matters, but I'm still looking for more here. It must be really hard for you to sell your Dad's house...thinking of you and hoping you and your wife are having a wonderful visit with her Mom.
This is lovely and reminds me of home, the farmlands of Minnesota. I also loved your words, Rick. I think you and I could sit and chat over a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine) and discuss life's intricacies (sp?) for hours. Most men don't spend a lot of time thinking about the things you do. A nice quality. Those who look inside find God.......and I know you have. =)
@mary1440 Why thank you Mary, and I think we could probably have a nice chat. If I ever make it out to you rarea, you are one person I would like to meet. Life has afforded me many challenges, and fortunately I had a Grandmother who, in her wisdom talked to me at an early age and taught me the importance and significance of developing a realtionship with God. If it were not for that, I don't know where i woud be today.
a peaceful pic ... =)
Wishing you a safe journey!!
Safe travels.
You have a great night too.
