This time of the year tends to bring out the child in us. As a Parent, I remember the joy of trying out some of the toys we'd buy for the kids. I think we had just as much as they did. Parents, enjoy your return to youthfulness.
Great perspective and POV. This reminds me of when toys were much simpler yet entertained us just the same. I think we had to use our imaginations more.
I love toys from the past; especially when they make a return to the present as gifts. My favourite toy - which I was never allowed to play with - was TONKA Trucks... they were so big and yellow I wanted to run around in the dirt with them; and yet Mum wanted me to keep my clothes clean. :)
Oh, that brings back memories. My oldest had wooden trains. I remember watching him push them around. Such fond memories. Thanks for taking me back down memory trail. I like your processing. :D
I don't think I'll ever forget the story my parents told about the year they stayed up about half the night on Christmas Eve putting together something for my brother. :) Always fun to be a kid.
Wonderful shot Rick- I love wooden toys and have bought both my grandsons trucks and cars this year. So it's going to be lots of fun playing with them! The children that is, well maybe the toys too.
Great picture Rick!!!
My only grandson will be three on Christmas day and he is crazy about wooden cars/trains/airplanes ....something like this would make him so happy, i can see his face glowing!!! If I get him something like this it would a present for daddy as well!!!
I miss having little kids so much and this brought me right back to those days. My favorite memory was of my husband and my best friend's husband putting together a huge doll house on Christmas Eve. These two grown men were so absorbed in making sure every sticker for things like art on the walls was perfect that they didn't realize they were basically playing with a doll house. I wish I had a photo of that!
I always enjoy these moments too Rick. It's crazy how fast time flies. I'm sure you look back to those days and feel very nostalgic. I guess in your line of work you are extra grateful to REMEMBER those memories. My wonderful Grandma has Alzheimers, and it is so awful that she can't remember those wonderful times. It makes me so sad for her, and us. She was the "perfect" Grandma growing up, and I attribute my love for cooking and baking entirely to her. She adored Christmas, and actually, any excuse to entertain... I take that memory with me, always! :)
I have been away from my computer for a few days - will catch up later with comments :)
