I bought this neat little old iron bank this past Sunday at an antique shop. They had several, but I chose this one. It came with its original key and it works well yet. These old type banks can be quite expensive, some going for several hundred dollars. This one wasn't near that bad. It stands about 4 inches high, and it's about 3 inches square. On the bottom it is dated 1896. I thought it would make a nice addition to my collection.
My aunt used to collect old metal novelty banks like a circus dog where you put the coin in his mouth and he dropped it in a slot. I used to love to look at them. This is a pretty one.
This is a pretty awesome find and what a lovely addition to your collection. I haven't gone antiquing in quite a while. It's one of my favorite things to do.
Very nice. I love old metal banks. I still have my 32 yr old son's bank collection...his wife won't let him take them to their house as they have already about outgrown the place and have so little storage...so of curse, they now take up space in my tiny attic!
