My Wife was never one who wanted to put flowers outside. Over the years I suggested it, but she was never interested. She always complained that everything she ever planted died, so she lost interest. Well, when Stefanie came home, she sparked a new interest by planting a few things, and now Josie has gone out several times to buy plants. She went out on Friday and bought two more potted plants for the porch, and told me that we were going to go back out this morning to buy a few more to plant along the fence line. Yes, you heard me right. She told me. I have learned through the years not to argue. Besides, if I am with her, I can prevent her from buying an over abundance, LOL. She's been known to do that. As you can see, she has decided to use a mixture of Miracle Grow soil additive for the planting. She is hoping this will do the trick. My Son volunteered to do the digging, I did the removal of the sod, and she is preparing the soil. Then we were both out there on our knees planting this afternoon. This evening I did the watering of all the new plants, and the others that had been planted last week. Now we wait, cross our fingers, and see how the Zinias, and the Begonias do over the next few weeks. Shhh, don't tell Josie she was my daily post. I'm sure she wouldn't mind, but I didn't have time to go out for a daily photo shoot.
Go Josie!! I think your flowers will do just fine as long as you keep them watered. And you have 3 willing assistants this time around too. Fun shot Rick!
How appropriate for your daughter to start the growing of family plants. The Miracle Grow Soil is great, Can't wait to see a post in a couple of months with all the color around the fence
clever you! amazing influence daughters have over mothers! this is a very addictive pass time..........and when things grow you want everyone to know! she'll be joining you on 365 next! Enjoy the colours as they appear!
Love the photo of her and the bag of "miracles!" Now you've got some great future photo ops! Yes, I'm always thinking ahead .... and constantly looking for photo ops! Love this candid, Rick. :)
This photo made me happy indeed! Yes, our days were so similar. My husband and I worked in the back yard gardens all day. For me kneeling in the dirt with the sun on my back and the sound of happy chickens just a few feet away is like balm to the soul. It made me so happy to hear that your whole family is planting. Stefanie has obviously been a great influence...how cool is that?
Beautiful capture, Rick. I love planting any kind of seedlings in my garden. Zinnias are beautiful. Here, we make sure not to wet the leaves because the plants will die out. I don't know whether it's the same over there.
once you get hooked there is no going back .. She'll love the garden once the flowers start to grow and thrive. Gardening is one of my most favourite things to do on a day off. Nothing is so relaxing and soothing for the soul as getting your hands dirty :)
Great action shot! The only thing you left out was the root beer float after all the work was finished, on the porch of course gazing at your handiwork.
Your wife and I have much in common! I seem to kill everything and now that I have a huge garden I'm really crossing my fingers that things will survive. Begonias are a good choice, they are pretty hardy! :)
A wonderful job for all of you to partake in..hope the plants will do well.
when I first met my daughter-in-law she was strictly a city person..we taught her how to look for things in the forest..how to plant some flowers etc.. now for many of years already they have a beautiful home in the country with lots of acres around...I must say her garden always looks great..your wife will enjoy the plants and flowers and once she get's started you better watch out!
