Coming Home

One in a series of three photos I took yesterday depicting life in the City near where I live. I've lived here all my life, and in the past 15 years or so the city has deteriorated significantly. As I drive through certain areas, it is sad to see what people are doing to the properties. Some of the beautiful historic buildings are being ruined, and sadder yet, people do not seem to care.
Great composition

History is no longer important to many. They only live in the here and now and don't realize what that will mean in a generation or two. Good shot.

Love the composition in this... and I also hate all the old buildings being allowed to be ruined and/or being torn down.

I love everything about this shot Rick - really tells a story. Fav!

Very sad indeed, Rick. People seem to be more absorbed in their work nowadays and have no time to care for their houses.

I agree with @sangwann in that a lot of people get absorbed in their work and or leisure and just don't take time to consider their investment.

It's sad to see this happen. People just don't have the money or time to take care of these older properties.

People often have no respect for buildings... :( This photo is oddly beautiful

Great composition but sad commentary.

It's hard to look at some of my former residences

that really is sad. I think you get that almost everywhere you go...people just not caring as much anymore and alot of people not wanting to take the time to keep things looking nice. So sad to hear since in your town there are so many historical and gorgeous buildings!

It's a problem in neighborhoods where the people don't take care of their property. It's a chain reaction and if left to deteriorate it will become a magnet for unsavory people who really don't care about property.
