Again tonight the temperatures were so very comfortable, in the mid 60's. Wow, compared to last week it is a relief. After supper I drove around for a little while just taking in the countryside.
Your picture has a smoldering effect so I was surprised to read about cooler temperatures. the weather is really nice here too. no humidity and not too hot, just the way I like my summers.
The 60s! Wow. I wish! It has been 88 or so here. I agree with Bruni...the pic processing does have a smoldering thing going on. I thought about you today..I FINALLY went to Home Depot and got my lantana plants and a butterfly bush..for the lakehouse yard. Mowed today...will plant them tomorrow. Yay! How are all your plants doing?
@espyetta The plants are doing exceptionally well in spite of the heat, but the pair of bushes we planted to attract hummingbirds, not much as far as blooms. Very disappointed. Maybe the first year is not good.
@digitalrn Now, which ones did you plant to attract hummers? I got the red/orange/yellow combo lantana. My neighbor has a huge bunch of it and I have seen hummingbirds go to it several times last summer. And I may put up my feeder too..but I have to commit to keeping the food fresh and that is hard since I don't stay full time at the lake house. But it may take a season or two to attract them...so be patient! It may work for you this fall or next year. I saw a hummingbird at school, in the outdoor classroom...on that same orange/red/yellow lantana. They seem to like that pretty well around here. And I think that I saw that in the fall, but maybe that was spring...
@espyetta It is called Weigela I believe, and they were supposed to attract hummingbirds. Lantana was another one my Wife wanted. I guess it's a bit late for that though.
@digitalrn You can always put some lantana in now..it is a "weed" and grows fast. Yes, you may not get any h. birds on it, but you might. And you'd have a start for next year. My neighbor cuts his back in winter, and then it regrows, just more huge the next year. It is now about 6 feet long "hedge' of lantana! I cannot wait until my tiny plants is like that.
It's been wonderful over the last few days and I'm enjoying it for all it's worth because I know the real summer weather will return at some point. Nice shot.
