Sorry for another bee shot, but when you are out in the wild, you take advantage of what you see. The bees were really hovering around these thistles. Can't imagine walking on something like that, but I guess they are accustomed to that. I didn't have my macro lens with me so I was surprised I was able to get this close-up so clear. I did crop in a bit.
Nicely done Rick! Our thistles are purple so the white one is pretty interesting to me. The bees on my Coneflowers have been so friendly this year. I can't believe how close I can put the camera and not bother them. Great job!
When I see this picture, it reminds me somehow of a prickly pear. I didn't know tistle are white before they turn purple. great shot, Rick. @olivetreeann you're so right, the bees around the coneflower don't fly away when one gets close to take a picture. (just see my upload from today)
