When I was studying psychology in college, we had to learn the many different styles of counseling, and psychotherapy. A favorite was Gestalt, and his empty chair technique. A therapist would use this approach to encourage a person to examine themselves, their relationship to themselves, feelings about a situation, or even another person. The technique is very helpful as you attempt to "act out" or face your feelings. It can be helpful as you prepare to confront a situation or someone face to face. When I saw these two older gentlemen sitting on this bench, and facing that empty bench, this is the first thing I thought of.
