My Grandmother used to say this quite often, and I always thought it was a silly thing to do. Once I finally understood what it meant, it made sense. I think the lesson hit home during my teen years. You know the time when you think you know it all, LOL. If you are not familiar with the saying, it is a colloquial idiom that means being humiliated by admitting you were wrong, or having been proved wrong after holdinbg a strong position on a particular issue. This is a photo of just a small group of crows roosting in some nearby trees. Lately we are being invaded by literally thousands of crows. They fly around at dusk looking for a place to roost till morning, and then they are off again till later in the evening. They are dirty, and make a mess. The City has been contemplating a plan to get rid of them. So far they have been unsuccessful.
Sort of reminds me of Grackles and Starlings- they can be pests too. And of course Canada Geese. It will be interesting to see if they can conquer the crows and be eco-friendly as well. Great shot.
Brilliant shot Rick. We have mega amounts of crows where we live and they seem to congregate all together throughout the day... then all of a sudden at dusk they take off flying to the nearby woods ... its a fascinating sight to see.....
They also like to mass together to attack the buzzards and they are just relentless ... that is not so pleasant to witness.... ♥
