Ransom Riggs and his photography for Miss Peregrine

July 3rd, 2014
For those of you who are familiar with his books - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City, you know that the photography in these books is so obscure and creepy and mystical. He has several books about photography and thought you might be interested in this website.

Such a nostalgic collection of vintage pics in the trailer. A creative idea to include writing left on the backs of photos. Makes me sad to hear how they died, though, would rather focus on celebrating their lives...Truly a uniquely mystical, yet sadly morbid (in a way), collection of talking pics conveying mood and tone in a way that may fascinate yet scare/repel adults, let alone inspire juxtaposing feelings and responses in children. I know some younger readers who love the haunting and scary stuff, though! They would eat this up. :o

@gratefulness I agree wholeheartedly. When I first got the book, I flipped through the pages, and I could not stop looking at and thinking about the photos - especially the one of the girl looking into the pond and seeing her reflection as twins! I also thought the one with the face on the back of the head was particularly eerie. I really enjoyed the book, and it's great to see photographs of this nature so integral to the plot and the reader's comprehension!
