So we have not had a good Critique Me thread in a while. So here is how this works for new members who want to voluntarily get constructive feedback.
• Step One, go to the person who commented last (not posted last)
• Step Two, copy their most recent picture, not any other, but can choose any album they have
• Step Three, go to reply on the discussion, and add their @username and paste their photo
• Step Four, tell them one thing you LOVED about the photo, and one thing that you would possibly change or do different with their photo.
• Step Five, wait for the next person to critique your photo.
This is a great thread that will give you some constructive criticism and maybe see your photo differently. Once the thread gets too long or it has been a while, feel free to start a new discussion, but please use the first photo of the person who last critiqued a photo
There are two easy ways to add pictures on to the discussion.
The first is a full size photo: 1) Click on your favorite photo and bring up its page. 2)Look at the right side of your monitor, and go to the word SHARE (it is below tags) 3) go to the box and copy the long address 4) Come back to the discussion, and then paste. 5) If it is not your photo also tag the person who it belongs to so they know you love it (@name) remember no punctuation on either side of the @and name.
I really like how the sunlight is shining on the wet wood and the hail. I only wonder if this had been taken at a different angle would the composition been a bit less geometric.
@brumbe - oh too funny to see a new discussion after I felt singlehandedly responsible for the end of the last one. I think I I completely blew it on the when I said something probably stupid about some fantastic photographer who also I noticed later happened to be on the PP.
I have always valued any critiques you've offered me, but I don't understand exactly what you're saying about this one - what I liked was how geometric it is. Can you say any more about why that detracts for you?
@shadesofgrey I think this is a very cool shot. I love the subject matter, lighting and the way that you cropped it. The only improvement I would want to see is for the skier to be more to the right in the frame.
@sharritta Me too actually! I had to snap him as he went by, kinda snuck up on me he was going so fast! But I liked the feeling of him leaving the frame....does lose focus as the subject though too.
Whomever's next, don't pick me, I've already been done!
@mstipe
well dang! i'm not sure what i would change about this... i love the windy creek (river?) and how it is framed by brush and trees... i guess i'd be interested in seeing how it would look if it was just a bit lighter towards the back so the individual trees would be more defined...
@tigerdreamer I think I would have liked the black center at the top of the dome to be more straight. When you asked for me to be more specific I held up two sheets of paper and to get it "flat" you would have to cut a lot off the edges. So unless there is more and that is a crop, I actually don't think it would work. You'd probably have to reshoot it. Does that make sense?
I love love love the wavy reflection but find the sculpture in the foreground too distracting. I would have taken two shots, one of the sculpture reglected and one cliser of the building reflected. Cool shot though, I'm a big fan of reflections at the mo!
i love the colours and the processing and the subject, the only thing i would change would be a tad more square on and a slight crop to remove the trees on the side.
@mstipe@tigerdreamer You could probably rotate the photo in PS or a similar editing program...then just crop the little bit of white off the edges.....I "think" most editing programs support a rotate feature.
@mjkthorpe I like the cat and I like how you caught the stare. He/she looks so focused on something. If the picture were mine I would have straightened it slightly so the drawer was straight and then cropped out the small part on the right side so you only see drawer and cat.
@katiebrenkert Love how the bubbles are streaming out of the wand. And it is a great portrait shot too! For changes, I might pop the lighting a little bit by pushing the fill light and highlights in processing.
@charli321 tx Charli... i think you are right... unfortunately, that sculpture is so close to the building there is no way to get a decent shot without it there... as it was i was perched up high somewhere i wasn't supposed to be - in office work clothes no less ;p but i really appreciate the feedback and insight... tx!!
@swguevin
I love the action shot and the way the balls are captured totally in focus. A really fun shot! I would edit out the red sign as it is a bit distracting, makes it look like he is holding it!

The colors and tones are lovely and congratulations on the ball.
The subject is a little cluttered for me to focus through the ball.
I like all the lines and shadows here, but I think if you had straightened it, it would be much better.
