Well, I've seen plenty of dead mice, and this one is a dead ringer for one. They like the dark, damp places like under houses because there are lots of bugs and other goodies running around under there, as well as water and shelter. They will sometimes sneak into your house for a little snack too. They usually have a variety of parasites on them, so make sure you don't touch one, and if you do, immediately wash your hands.
if you have a sister and she has a dolly house, I would suggest you put it on one of the beds so that it can sleep peacefully. Your sister will appreciate your gesture.
@sfeldphotos Why was your Dad under the house? If he could get there I guess the mice could... they sneak into the smallest gaps as I have found many a time when the cats thoughtfully bring one in for me to admire. Sometimes they are up for a game of hide and seek or chase, sometimes they look like this one, and sometimes they are decapitated!! Not a nice surprise first thing, especially when you tread on it in bare feet....!
If you arnt sensitive put it on the compost. Otherwise a burial and a photo of the cross over grave. Depends if you have children, sometimes depends on their reaction.
@jennywren Sorry, have re read your profile, didn't check your age. We get lots of mice in our garden and sometimes they just die, don't think they have long lives. They do also have a cute side, I posted one on my site where it was eating the birds peanuts.
@bobfoto Oh my god, your comment is hilarious! I’m the only sister of two brothers and it brought back many fond memories of the ways I suffered at the hands of both of them.
Mice seem to have short lifes to me and to multiply quickly. Mice can get into very small places. In my city, they like to come into houses in the late fall. We can tell when it is getting colder because the mice start trying to come in. It is difficult to mice proof ones house, but it is possible. re: ants We have sugar ants here. We have tried to redirect them to the outside, but have failed. We do not call in the exterminator, but we use the liquid ant poison (the type that you put on tiny pieces of cardboard). That is effective.
I would say it's a mouse and it's definitely dead. It could have got under you house in many ways. I say if there's one mouse there are more...watch out!!!
@pwallis Shhhh...keep it on the DL!
OMG, nearly fell off the chair laughing at that one!!!!
If you had one , you'll have dozens more.
BTW, I think that @beautifulthing is acting suspiciously guilty, Just saying...
