the best one is the young lady with the brolly. she;s a bit small in the frame so i might crop some of the sides off a bit :) . even go as far as cropping some of the brolly off from the left hand side (we don't need to see all the brolly to know she is holding one)
#7, I also really like #4 but the reflections on the glasses bother me slightly. I know it's not easy when your subject is wearing glasses. I like that you have chosen to portray them in b&w.
@vignouse@justaspark@pistonbroke Thank you all for your insights ... I know I've got some duds and #7 lives up the road form me and may do some more shots of him - he's not long turned 100 - for his family.
My dilemma now is / throughout this deciding process is ... do I stay true to only using the portrait on the day OR if possible reshoot the person to get the best possible outcome for the exhibition which showcases my talent and possibly get sales or further work? Decisions, decisions.
I liked 3 the first time round and still do . 7 is good shows a story. I like one (the shadow) but not in keeping with the rest of the project which is just head shots
@runawaymarbles@bonsai@a_henry@scarybird Thanks you everyone for your responses ... I've been on a three week road trip and heading off again in the morning (home two sleeps!) for more of the same. I'll get to asking for the next weeks ...
@runawaymarbles I had a family do in Adelaide on Dec 20 so I took a week to drive there visiting friends and finding people every day. I've been home two sleeps and have to paint an apartment in Melbourne (12hr drive) so will continue. So in a word I travel to meet new people and so people I know and doing this project allows me to meet strangers in other places too. I spent a month in Japan as a 'travel companion' with a family member and I'll be heading to Europe for 5 weeks on my own family trip. I take my camera and doing the project just means it's a different way to document my year.
i especially think number one is amazing the way you have captured his shadow, and i also think it links in nicely with the 'Strangers' exhibition as you cant actually identify him. -not sure if that's the aim but its the way i interpret it, great shot!!
@davidtom@dan1ella Thank you David and Daniella ... you're selections are added to the list. Don't forget to check out Week 2/52 to select from too. Week 3/52 coming.
Thank you all for your replies ... not dissimilar to my choice/s. Thanks Phil - will consider that crop. AC and Lisa - i intend doing up to 150 words of their story to go with the image for the exhibition.
I'll collate all responses into a spread sheet then when I've completed the project - July 1 2015 I will bring it together and let you know how things go.
I appreciate your time and will put up week 2's choices towards the weekend.
