One place in the world you would like to photograph

January 13th, 2011
If you could go anywhere in the world to photograph, where would you go and why?

Mine is Egypt

I have always had a fascination with the whole ancient history of this place. I would love to capture some of the amazing buildings, old relics and deserts
January 13th, 2011
Italy. All the way.
January 13th, 2011
England- I have always had a fascination with the history of England, so I'd like to see all of the places that I have read about :D
January 13th, 2011
I totally want to go to Australia!! I've seen soo many shots on here from Australia.. And it looks beautiful :D aaaaannnnd.... I love australian accents....(:

Not a very good reason.... I know... >.
January 13th, 2011
Chernobyl. I would give an organ up to be able to go there and photograph. I've been fascinated by that place since I was about 11 years old. It's the ultimate abandonment!
January 13th, 2011
Ireland. I'm of Irish heritage and going there is on my Bucket List!
January 13th, 2011
Prague!
January 13th, 2011
Japan
January 13th, 2011
Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Because it's where the majority of both mine and my husband's families came from about 3-5 generations ago (depending on the branch). I have always wanted to go there and see...well, everything. I think I would go photo crazy there.
January 13th, 2011
Oh man so hard to choose just one!! I think one of the first on my list would be Italy.
January 13th, 2011
I would LOVE to go to an abandoned asylum or hospital or prison... I love that sort of thing and I love decay... I think there are some amazing shots waiting to happen at one of these places! I also think undergrounds are fascinating!!
January 13th, 2011
@hmgphotos They are going to be opening that to the public soon. You should go. :)
January 13th, 2011
@hmgphotos and I would love to photograph there too.
January 13th, 2011
Kenya/Tanzania/South Africa - would love to photograph all that African wildlife.

@samantherzz - you're more than welcome down under any time :-)
January 13th, 2011
I'm going to be very cliche & say Times Square, NYC
January 13th, 2011
home first (oz) then the rest of the world!! bring it one, why just one place? I want the world!!
January 13th, 2011
=) Loving all the answers
January 13th, 2011
@yelyahs13 NYC is never cliche ;) Although, I am biased I guess, being from 2 hours north of there.
January 13th, 2011
@ravenwolf423 Let's go together! :P If it wasn't in the freaking Ukraine, I'd be all over it. But not exactly a cheap destination, and my Russian sucks (hell, they don't even speak Russian there, what am I thinking). Maybe one day when I win the lottery!

I'd do something silly like bring iso800 film with me, just to fog it all with the radiation and be like "This is my film that got ruined by Chernobyl!" Definitely is a film sort of place... just gotta stick to low iso's. Oh to dream...
January 13th, 2011
Oooo, a rainforest for sure! All those colors and creatures!! FUN! I would also like to go back to Guatemala with my camera. I love, love all their colors. Their culture would be really amazing to capture.
January 13th, 2011
@hmgphotos I'm in America and I can't afford a new camera, let alone to travel, lol! Otherwise, I would love to go. If I win the Mega Millions lottery over here, I'll take you. You could teach me a lot too. I agree, film would be more authentic for that setting. I would stick to digital though, since I am not comfortable with film yet. I would love to get some dark and grainy type shots... Oh man, to dream is right!
January 13th, 2011
Hm, probably South America.
I'd like to go to the Amazon Rainforest. There are a variety of animals and plants. I think it would be a fun experience. (:
January 13th, 2011
@ravenwolf423 Damn that Mega Millions... don't you wish you were related to the people who just won it? I'd just take a year and travel the whole world photographing it if I won the lottery. First stop B&H in NYC... where I would buy a few D3s, a new lens or two, and like 500 rolls of film for my film cameras... then off to all the cool places. *sigh*
January 13th, 2011
@hmgphotos Honestly I would hate to win, I'd be scared of crazy greedy people. But I would love the security for my kids. I would so tour the world with my family and show my kids things that I've only dreamed about.
January 13th, 2011
@vaderkip SNAP! That's exactly what I was going to put (Kenya/Tanzania/South Africa). I'd love to climb Kilimanjaro.
January 13th, 2011
@silverhorn Thanks for starting this thred, it is really interesting to read all of the answers! =)
January 13th, 2011
@ravenwolf423 Yeah, that's why I would try to "fall off the radar" so to speak... definitely move out of this tiny town I live in now, and probably travel a lot initially. Photographing blown up nuclear plants! Haha
January 13th, 2011
@vaderkip woot woot!! :D
January 13th, 2011
The Great Barrier Reef northeast of Australia. I haven't never tried underwater photography before and I haven't been to Australia in 10.5 years. :P
January 13th, 2011
1)India
2)Brasil
3)Cuba (Though as an American I'll probably never get to set foot on Cuba)
January 13th, 2011
Greece :)
January 13th, 2011
Definitely Australia!! I want to photograph the Opera House!
January 13th, 2011
P A R I S !
January 13th, 2011
INDIA
January 13th, 2011
I have a massive list Im slowly working my way through but one place I'd LOVE to go but probably wont end up getting to is Antarctica...in my next life I'm hoping to come back a scientist or a doctor or a chef or a telecommunications expert or something that means I can apply for a season at an Antarctic base ;)
January 13th, 2011
the Netherlands....tulip fields and windmills :)
January 13th, 2011
Any western national park in the United States. I fell in love with photography when I was at the Grand Canyon 8 years ago. And every time I go out there I just love the scenery
January 13th, 2011
Greece hands down! I don't know what it is about Greece but if I could live there I would! I feel like movies have had a huge influence on that though haha- I could watch Mamma Mia all day! But the oceans are so clear... actually maybe just anyway that had clear oceans. Here in the states our oceans are basically brown with some new piece of garbage floating up every time the waves crash
January 13th, 2011
@samantherzz @dayna - come and visit us anytime.

I would love to go to South Africa on an animal safari.
January 13th, 2011
Japan, w/ Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia close runner up.
January 13th, 2011
I always wanted to go to japan.
January 13th, 2011

January 13th, 2011
i would love to go to canada !
January 13th, 2011
vietnam, thailand, cambodia
January 13th, 2011
I don`t know.
I guess my first two choices would be:

The abandoned city Varosha (Cyprus) - http://acidcow.com/pics/5614-abandoned-beach-resort-varosha-cyprus-52-pics.html

..and the abandoned japanese ghost-island Hashima http://www.google.ro/images?hl=ro&expIds=17259,27944,27955,28009,28060&xhr=t&q=hashima+island&cp=8&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&wrapid=tljp129490689711600&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1021&bih=649

..and my secondary options are the normal places, like New York,Egypt,Paris,Rio De Janeiro,Tokyo,Hong Kong,Amsterdam,London, etc.

But I`ll probably never get to see these places.
January 13th, 2011
@samantherzz thanks for reminding me of my only overseas trip which was to Hong Kong/Singapore/Kuala Lumper :D there was a group of about 20 american girls and they asked if i could take a photo for them. and i said "alright 3,2,1" and they all started giggling and then said they loved my accent, i said thanks and they giggled again. was very amusing for my family :D im not one of those people that says i dont have an accent though :) cuz of course we all do to someone else :D

New Zealand would be my first destination :) would it also be silly to say Great Barrier Reef even though i live in Australia :D nonono theirs a place i saw in the mid coast of Western Australia i saw on a show i want to go :D all so close gosh.

OK to reach beyond my general borders Spain and Italy would be 2 must go places for me at one point in my life :) i watch too many documentaries :D

January 13th, 2011
Africa... I want to go on safari and shoot the big five (with my camera only)
January 13th, 2011
@lauren211 Come to Cyprus and we'll pop over to Greece together :)

For me, it has to be Italy! Then again, I would LOVE to go back to Paris with my dslr. I was absolutely in awe at how beautiful everything was. EVERYTHING!
January 13th, 2011
Oh and the Phillipines, for the sunsets :)
January 13th, 2011
@spaceman Nobody is allowed in Varosha :(((
January 13th, 2011
I don't know. What I do want to photograph is beautiful waterfalls so anywhere with on of those. I love mountains too, Mount Tiede in Tenerife was spectacular to photo and it's surroundings was very photogenic. Those were the days when all I had was an APS and was just overcoming chopping peoples heads off
January 13th, 2011
Number 1 - Tanzania - I used to live there but I so desperately want to go back and this time not be too shy/cautious about getting my camera out. There is so much I want to capture.. safari in Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti, Mt Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, and most of all just the day to day life in the villages around my old home..
Also.. India, Cambodia, Vietnam, Mozambique, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, so many places :)
January 13th, 2011
@rudit we have lots of it right now :) HINT HINT WINK WINK!! We got 16 inches or so yesterday :D
January 13th, 2011
@indiannie_jones
That`s a shame :( What a waste of space... Is the perimeter guarded by people?
January 13th, 2011
@spaceman I think Turkish troops do, as it's closed off to anyone else. I'd really love to see it too - it was thriving in the days prior to the war and nobody's gone back since.
January 13th, 2011
@indiannie_jones ....and I ask myself the same old question: "why can`t we all get along?"
January 13th, 2011
Hawaii, I am Hawaiian and have always wanted to go. The rainforest, waterfalls, and tropical birds with all their colors would make for some beautiful pics!
January 13th, 2011
@spaceman Indeed!
January 13th, 2011
I'd like to visit Topkapi Palace, and just revel in the beauty and the awe of it all.
January 13th, 2011
Morocco...it has a rich indigenous culture and civilization.
January 13th, 2011
I would love to photogaph the Northern lights. So I guess I would need to hang around a while in Norway or wherever they are best seen
January 13th, 2011
Africa...the animals...
January 13th, 2011
I am totally in love with New York and some of my best shots ever were taken during my last visit there. I would love to go back once again, there's so much to see and photograph!!

For nature pics I'd like to go to Iceland. I've never been there but I've seen some amazing shots by other people.
January 13th, 2011
@nikkers I agree! There are beautiful photo-oppurtunities everywhere!
But at this time I wished I could go to the sun and the blue skies... The rain bugs me.
January 13th, 2011
@alisongbradshaw I could take a few shots for you, next spring?!? The tullips ar really closeby. I think I will shot them for this project, but you have to wait until late april...

January 13th, 2011
All over, but right now, I would really love to go to Israel. It would be incredible to see everything there. I'd have to get multiple memory cards!
January 13th, 2011
Germany, Bayern - Neuschwein Castle Hope this year to visit this beautiful castle.
January 13th, 2011
First comes to mind is Ireland. Most definitely. I would love to explore the country, travel to different places, capture the incredible landscape that is there. My grandmother's side is from Ireland, so I would love to visit where her parents lived before migrating to America in the 1900's. I would have to say Italy too! Also, my grandfather's side is from there, in Florence or Rome. Would be a dream to visit BOTH! =)
January 13th, 2011
Either Egypt or the ruins in South America.
January 13th, 2011
Japan!
January 13th, 2011

January 13th, 2011
Greece definitely!
January 13th, 2011
Somewhere back east! I am craving SNOW, and the puffy flakes of white it brings. I believe snow is one of the most beatiful things you can photograph.
January 13th, 2011
IRELAND! love all the green i see in photos, and old stone walls/architecture. also have family history with ireland, so that would make it even more fun.
January 13th, 2011
Italy! I am lucky that I get to go there in a few months :)
January 13th, 2011
Alaska ...and i will one day :-D
January 13th, 2011
Mine is Egypt too! I hope to get there someday!
January 13th, 2011
Ireland, Italy and Paris..

January 13th, 2011
@hmgphotos Very cool! I'm fascinated by the abandoned too. Let's plan a trip: P
January 13th, 2011
right now Malta, Cyprus and Crete sound good, or the Lingurian Coast of Italy.

So many places...will try to share pictures of my travels this year...heading off to Hawaii in a few weeks, so I'll have a glut of topside and underwater pictures to share.

Greece and Italy... and if I had to narrow it down further, Santorini and Venice.

My dream will become reality - SOME DAY!!! :)

India. Bhutan. Japan.

Also, I am going to Singapore, and probably Malaysia in the spring. Fingers crossed I can learn something before then!
January 14th, 2011
SANTORINI!!! GRECCE!
January 14th, 2011
France - Hilary (Mixiewing) keeps getting such brilliant shots from there. Not too difficult to arrange.

The trouble is I can't think where I wouldn't want to go with a camera - that's the hard bit. Maybe back to INDIA, the land of my father: the bright colours of fluttering saris against the stunning green of rice fields , those sculptural sacred cows that wander everywhere, brown faces with blue eyes inherited from the time of Alexander, frangipani flower garlands, heaps of colourful powders they use for festivals, pyramids of spices, lotus flowers on water ....need to get me a ticket!
January 14th, 2011
@conners Just coming to the end of my series on Guatemala - hoping to persuade some 365ers to go there, so hope you will pick up the baton - shall look forward to your shots.
January 14th, 2011
@odduck That's a great one. Maybe I'd love to go ride Mongolian horses across the mongolian steppes and photograph that.
January 14th, 2011
@silverhorn Great threads for hatching dreams and plans!!
January 14th, 2011
Tokyo by night, Mongolian steppes by day. (I quite like it here in Wales, actually)
January 14th, 2011
ANYWHERE with crystal blue water. My dream.
January 14th, 2011
Istanbul...the blue mosque.....it always attracts me in a strange way...dont know why
January 14th, 2011
Ireland, Scotland then perhaps Venice, Greece, Egypt...Deep into India, Bali, Great Wall, China...Japan..on and on and on...
January 14th, 2011
Belgium or the province Limburg or even the village of Sint-Truiden and surroundings. To be honest this is the place where I live and it is beautiful. Problem is that most people only want to go to remote places and do not see the beauty of their own region.
January 14th, 2011
Bantayan Island, Philippines - or maybe an Ashram in India - or better yet, France for colorful macaroons worthy of photos or maybe... AHHH TOO MANY!
January 14th, 2011
Norway!

January 15th, 2011
@miranda Hoping to go to India in November....can only imagine the pictures I will be able to take. :)
January 15th, 2011
@eringoodman The Gaudi architecture was spectacular....unfortunately, I didn't take nearly enough pictures. :)
January 15th, 2011
I would go to Italy...and I AM going to Italy! I've never been outside the US, and I'm finally getting to go on the trip of my dreams to tour Italy for two weeks in July. CANNOT WAIT! I will probably take thousands of pictures...literally.
January 15th, 2011
Venice!
and Quebec City!
I know it says one place you would like to photograph, but technically Quebec would be re-photograph. =p
January 15th, 2011
I would love to visit Prague, Czech Republic because of the city itself and Japan or China because of it's lights and they preserved most of their cultural and historical landmarks.
January 15th, 2011
italy without a doubt
January 15th, 2011
Alaska is on my list! And. Thailand.........:o)
January 15th, 2011
New Zealand and Australia and I am going in 6 weeks. Yayyy
January 15th, 2011
Ummm, this is extremely hard because I want to go back to so many places and visit others I haven't been to yet...Italy, Switzerland, England, France, the Netherlands are certainly on my go back list...and I suppose if I had to pick just one place I want to go but haven't I'd say New Zealand...and you can thank the LOTR movies for that - that place is GORGEOUS.
January 15th, 2011
I used to like to go to places with gardens, flowers, and plants. However, I am broadening my photographic subjects since I got my digital camera. First, I thought of Ireland, Wales, and Scotland. These are my family's ancestral homes and these countries seem so lovely in the photographs I have seen. Then, I thought of more and more places I would like to go to. I can find things to photograph anywhere I go.
January 15th, 2011
@omabluebird @thineownself - I can promise you NZ is as good as the movies make it out to be ;)
January 15th, 2011
japan
January 15th, 2011
New Zealand! Such a gorgeous place. So much beauty. I'm in Australia so one day soon I'll make it there! :-)
January 15th, 2011
I'd go with China or Japan to photograph all of the old temples and the people there. I've always found those places just gorgeous.
January 15th, 2011
japan or las vegas...
PAris too..
January 15th, 2011
Wow. hard one. but I would say ITALY. =D
January 15th, 2011
Aha, I am from Egypt, and live there (:

I would LOVE italy.
January 15th, 2011
too many. Alaska is next on my list, and Australia is the first out of the country place I would love to go to..or New Zealand. and Scotland...
January 15th, 2011
Japan and Germany, cos I love the Japanese culture and the German language and art
January 15th, 2011
italy!
January 15th, 2011
@laceyjogautreau Scotland is gorgeous, let me tell you....So green, so old, so beautiful.

January 15th, 2011
London and the sites of Ancient Greece
January 15th, 2011
Interesting question! For me, I think Alaska, to see the mountains and the beautiful wildlife.
January 15th, 2011
@samantherzz I totally agree with your comments. Our Australian photographers sure make it look inviting especially at this time of year.
January 15th, 2011
Thailand and Viet Nam. I don't know if I'll ever get there though! lol

This summer my cousin and I are planning a trip to Japan! That would be my first trip to Asia, and I'm thrilled at the prospect!
January 15th, 2011
Its a toss up between Vegas (happening this year, YAY!) and Paris.. I'll never see Paris though, because I won't fly.. So Vegas it is haha..
January 15th, 2011
India, I would love to visit. Maybe when my son is a little older we'll make it out there.
January 15th, 2011
Italy...
January 16th, 2011
the Earth's orbit
it´s my dream
January 16th, 2011
Ooo. Good question! I say Denmark. Besides my husbands birthplace, it has some awesome history.
January 16th, 2011
Ireland or Australia. My wife and I really want to visit both places.

But if I was forced to take just one more photo, and then never use my camera again, I would want to take a photo of a redwood forest, a few minutes before sunrise, on a cool, slightly-misty Spring morning, after the redwood sorrel have started blooming.
