I'm currently saving up my dollars for a nicer camera.. I came accross this camera, Canon EOS Rebel T3 Black, at walmart.com.. Does anybody own this camera/has owned it in the past? If so is it a nice camera for photographing? I like photographing people in general.. is this a good camera for that? Any reviews would be greatly appreciated!
I've had mine since November. I love it!!! I got mine at Walmart, too. Yes, it does take nice portraits. I really don't have many people shots in my project. I do have some of my grandchildren in my December 2011 album. I shoot mostly nature pics.
My understanding is that the T3 is the newer version of the XS. I started with an XS and it did everything I wanted it to and was a great one to start with, mine lasted over 50,000 photos in 2.5 years.
I have it, my project is shot on it if you want to look at my photos. It's great, but I would buy just the body and a 50 mm 1.8 lens to start. Unless (like me) you really like to zoom in composing your shots. I have the Tamron 28-75 2.8 lens, which IMO is a huge improvement over the kit lens.
Downsides I've found:
Not great performance with high ISO (low light/indoors).
I doesn't have spot metering, which would be helpful for backlit shots.
It doesn't have capabilities to control a remote shutter release.
@grecican LOL! I've looked at it many times. I've also told my husband I need to take pics in Walmart to submit. There's not much you can't see in there, but it''s a great place for my budget. :0)
As for any walmart comments.. I had a friend who wouldn't buy electronic devices and I don't understand why because just because its walmart doesn't mean the product is made cheaply. It's made the same as any other store such as best buy.. just a cheaper PRICE.
