Thought Everyone in The thumbnail-challenge could use a laugh!

July 24th, 2012
I thought I was really being way ahead of the game this week. So I decided to do my shape of a circle. I took all my pictures for the week, beautiful vases and they turned out really nice. I was so happy until, I looked at one that was posted, only to realize that our challenge said, B & W. I almost died and couldn't believe how I could have missed that. So, I had to start again. So, that is my laugh for the week.

Oh no. You didn't have to take the photos again, you could have converted them to b&w. I am sure your week will still look fantastic.

OOooooops - so did I!!

I agree with @nicolecampbell - use picmonkey, I will be!!
July 24th, 2012
@granny7 Oh Linda what a shame! Try the picmonkey and see how they come out - I'm sure they will still look great and you might find a new trick! :)

There you go Linda - Fixed!

@nicolecampbell I don't think they would have looked good, they were beautiful in color.

@boogie I can't believe I was the only one! So, what did you do about what you took?
July 24th, 2012
@filsie65 I'll try some of them out, but deleted all the really good ones, I think. I know I can take them and turn them into B & W, but seriously don't think they lend themselves to it as well.
July 24th, 2012
they don't have to b&w photos, they have to be b&w shapes. right?
July 24th, 2012
yes, just went back and re-read the rules, so you could do something like selective color and just make your shapes b&w if you don't want to make the entire photo b&w.
July 24th, 2012
@bulldog - that was so awesome!
@Camille - I think it's up for artistic interpretation

Yep, I'm using ribbet to convert my pics to b/w
July 24th, 2012
Ohhhhh! I can sort of relate! I took all my line shots last week thinking that this week I'd do everything in sepia and it would soo cool on the calendar only to discover the b/w thing!!! It totally changed how I decided to do the week- and even though I think it will be fine, it's going to drive me crazy that I couldn't do the sepia shots I had originally planned for!!

@catsmeowb Camille, it's to late, I deleted the original ones and not sure how you can selectively do what you are talking about? It really made me mad, as the vases were so pretty, but in B & W it didn't look that good.
July 25th, 2012
oh, i don't know how to do selective color either! i have seen other people do it and it is really so nice but i am just not that advanced in editing - or maybe it is just something in another program that i have not yet discovered? have no idea, really. will explore it when i come across it, i guess. that is too bad about your vases. it sounds like they would have been wonderful. i, too, had all my shots done and then changed my mind on sunday night after taking some photos that day. this challenge is 'challenging'!
July 25th, 2012
@olivetreeann I like sepia better than B & W, so that had to be frustrating for you. I even changed the first picture that was of a clock by itself. I then decided to do a combination of clocks and music. So now I don't know wether to get rid of the first picture of the clock or not? This challenge is definitely challenging and I don't think I will ever do one again, at least not for a month. It's taking way to much of my time and frustrating the heck out of my husband, trying to get these shots done.

@catsmeowb Camille, yes the vases were so pretty from around the world. I don't know how to do selective color's, I'm new to all of this. I did join ribbet, not sure how it differs from i-photo that I have on my Mac, does anyone else know? I've got one picture that is pretty dark, due to the things in it and I can't seem to get it light enough without loosing the clarity.
July 25th, 2012
i have a pc, not a mac so i am not sure. i use several different free editing programs. i like ipiccy quite a bit. also used picmonkey, picasa, pixlr, all free online. i like to play around sometimes, like with some of my photos this week, but usually just do small adjustments. i don't know how to photoshop. have tried and tried but i think i will end up throwing my laptop before i master it. i need someone to walk me through it.

@granny7 I'm sorry you're not enjoying the challenge as much as you'd hoped to. There are so many different kinds of challenges- even in the monthly style. We've done some where there is a theme (such as a story from a book or movies) running throughout the month, words starting with the same letter throughout the month, and week by week challenges like this one. Some weekly challenges have same genre (like b/w) or same subject. There are quite a few to choose from. So it might be that this format didn't suit you and maybe there's another that will. And it might be that you just don't like them which is ok too! You could keep the clock as is and take another clock shot on day 7 to make it look like bookends, or you could redo it. It really depends on what you feel like doing. If you do decide to replace it though, you will lose all the comments from that day. With an "ace" membership you can interchange pictures and not lose the comments- that may or may not matter in this case. I think it depends on how you feel it looks. Right now, it doesn't seem to match, but if you did the "bookend" idea then it would by the end of the week. It's what you're happy with in the end. But if it's frustrating to you, I would let it go and not worry! I really think that 365 is supposed to be an enjoyable creative outlet and if you lose that then it's no longer fun. It's not supposed to be a pressure cooker that saps energy out of you. The saying that floats around here quite often is "Your project, your rules". So, lift some of that pressure off and shoot what you enjoy and love. That's just my humble opinion. (o:
