I have played with one, and it is very nice, a local store let me take one for a weekend (along with a camera - as I'm a Nikon fan normally - think they were trying to convert me)
Very crisp, and just lovely to use.
Alternatively, you can pick up one of these pancake lens's for about £10/$16 - it is one of my favourite bits of glass...
Details in this link, and some sample pics taken on my Nikon DSLR with it.
I got a Jupiter lens for my Zorki 4, and bought a leica thread mount adapter to try it out on my DSLR as I do most my film lenses, but it only shoots macro, and only focuses between like an inch, and four inches from the lens. weird.
@chewyteeth the distance between the lens mount thread and the film on the Zorki is different to the lens mount thread to film/sensor distance on a DSLR/SLR - that's why it wont pull proper focus.
The Canon 40mm STM is a fantastic lens, well worth the very low price tag. It's incredibly sharp wide open, so light you won't know it's there, and a more 'traditional' prime focal length when used a crop-frame camera than a 50mm.
I haven't got one myself (yet) but it is extremely highly-rated and well worth getting if you're even slightly tempted by it. It's holding very good resale value at the moment as well, so even if you do decide you don't get along with it (unlikely unless you don't get along with the focal length) you can sell it for not much of a loss.
@chewyteeth it's not easy, as the lens wasn't designed to work on SLRs - the one I posted the link to was an SLR lens - so the distance is correct, and it will work with minimal correction.
ah, M42 fit?
yeah I thought that, its a rangefinder lens, the adapter cost me next to nothing so it doesn't matter. and adapters once bought boost the resale value of old lenses so I'll never lose out.
I got this lens for Christmas and although i haven't played with it too much yet, I must say I really like it. I probably still prefer my 50 1.4 but this will probably be my second favourite lens.
Here's the only picture so far in my project taken with the 40
@laurentye@tskipper@abirkill@cookie123 thanks a bunch. I love my 35mm a bunch and have a 50mm f1.8 mark 1 which is cool but am tempted by the 40mm purely on price and size. First I will buy 100mm macro then probably the 40mm

Dave - there are examples in the link I left above.
