I've applied it to a couple of pics and mine looked like yours ... out of focus. I'll take a minute sometime soon to see if the centers are in focus like the green leaves; but it didn't look like they were in the pics I tried.
May I ask what the fascination is with out of focus pictures? The OP picture doesn't quite fit in with what I am talking about, however. I have seen butt loads of extremely out of focus photos recently (the OP pic you can at least see what it is ;) ). I don't want to link examples on here as I don't wish to offend. I am genuinely interested in the love for them. I'm not talking about DOF (or lack thereof ;) ) shots either. I am talking about a full page of blurry nothing with comments such as "FAV!" "Gorgeous!" "Great POV!" etc. I honestly feel like I am missing something....
I am no photographer, not even close. And I am not trying to start anything, god forbid. ;) And yes, I like the OP pic. :)
I did a different one that seemed to turn out better, in that it doesn't hurt my eyes anyway. More weed totally might help. The tutorial I was using did this effect with a bridge.
@jojos2 oddly enough out of focus wasn't really what I was going for. I have seen some of what I think you're talking about. It's supposed to represent motion or something but I don't quite get it. I get out of focus by drinking too much coffee and then not taking my tripod along.
I probably shouldn't have posted my question on your thread, because it isn't relevant to your pictures, but I had just stumbled across yet another completely out of focus picture of a stationary item (not a car going past, or a kid running in the park), with more of the comments and fav's I was talking about and I was SO confused. ;)
I do really like the pictures you posted, especially the second one. The colours are divine. Thanks for your reply. :)
