Photoshop Elements 11

February 11th, 2013
Good morning 365ers!! I invested in Photoshop Elements 11 yesterday after a couple of years of wanting it! Now that I have it, I can't seem to figure it out. I know practice makes perfect. Does anyone know of good video tutorials that start with basic edits? I found some lat night but they were more advanced edits. Any advice will be great!!!!

I have the same issue. As a novice it seems really complicated and I am sure there is so much I could do but can't figure it out. I have looked on you tube and there are some adobe videos for photoshop. I am also thinking about buying a book from amazon. There is one by Scott Kelby that apparently is good.

I've got Photoshop Elements 5; have been learning bits and pieces from youtube and also from PSE for Dummies.
I am contemplating upgrading to the newer version.
Good Luck - and have fun learning!

Check adobes site for getting started videos - I'm sure there are some

I am new to PSE11 as well. I have found the adobe videos to be great, but they are tricky to find. Sometimes I hit it and sometimes I can't find them. It is a learning curve, but it does get better. And ask individuals about their edits.

Anybody interested in starting up an editing challenge, like the camera settings challenge?

I just subscribed to Photoshop Elements User. http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/

I think they have some tutorials out there that you can get to without paying.

@andrina If it is the Adobe Photoshop CS6 book, it is absolutely great. Even experience users should get a lot from it, and it is written in an extremely accessible way (tutorial like) that beginners should get a lot out of it as well. Emphasizes Camera Raw 7.0, and that rocks.

I bought Elements 11 The Missing Manual and it has really helped me :)

@jtrudell Wow - thanks Janine! I have just learned the difference between the clone stamp and the healing brush tool in 2mins :D

You Tube has got to be where you go, I am learning Lightroom and YT is great for that so I can only presume it will be the same for elements

I have got Elements 11 as well and got the missing manual. That helped me get started with it. I also just google whatever I want to do and there are some good tutorials out there.

I must admit I bought Elements 11 and I can't get on with it. I've got the Dummies book but haven't really got time to mess about reading it. i shall have a look at You Tube and see if I can find the tutorials so thanks for this post. If I can't do things without having to read a load of books, I must admit I tend to give up!

@boogie @rosiekind @willowdragon @felix2013 @jtrudell @kmrtn6 @superbeyotch @frankhymus @aponi @tigerdreamer @northy @andrina Thanks for all your tips!! I'm going to get out and find a book and then hit up YouTube!! Hopefully I can figure it out!!!

@frankhymus hi Frank, it's the photoshop elements 11 but has got some very good reviews. Thanks for that though as if the author is good with the CS6 book it should be good.

@tigerdreamer hey Karen... yes! love to do that kind of challenge... if you didn't raise it again i was going to bring it up towards the end of the month...

how do you think we should do it? find some experts to help set the challenges and provide some explanation? or just get things started and let each successive winner set the next challenge?

one thing to consider is that everyone has different editing tools, so how you sharpen in PSE for example, will be different from lightroom, will be different from something else... i think that's ok - just something to be sensitive to...
February 12th, 2013
@northy Yes, to all of that. I think we need experts who would set the challenges maybe provide the when and why of that type of edit more than which button to push. Which is what was done in the CSC challenges.
A couple of people said they would think about it, but no one took it up.
