Just got a beautiful lens for Valentine's day but I found out that a friend of mine is selling hers for about $300 less than hubby purchased it for.
It's a Nikon micro 105mm. She's had it for 2 years and barely used it...I'm happy to buy it from her (great for both of us) but I just want to find out if Nikon does anything to change the lens or update it in that time period. Or do they just make the lens and then rename it?
The lens you are talking about is one of my favorites. I use it with the D90, have had it 2 years, and know of no changes that would make it worth paying for a new one. You could use the $300 to buy additional equipment!
@taffy Yes that is the one I have and I"m sure that is the one that my friend is selling but I won't see it until Tuesday. I'm glad to hear that you like it! I will check out your project!
@nyresolution There are several photos on the project where I used it for macro as well as more portrait length. I tend to use that, my 85, or my 50 most of the time, and I bought the two latter ones used.
Out of the five lenses I have two of them are used and both purchased off ebay. There are risks involved but as its a friend iam sure it is risk free. No experience with nikon as I am a canon fanboy but macro lens are fantastic. Just got myself the 100mm canon usm second hand and it is perfect
This is the one I was talking about: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/105vr.htm
It works with DX, FX, etc.
