@hjv --- I have to agree. There is so much available online that I will not be renewing any of my photography magazines.
Have you looked into Zinio? It's an online magazine site. I've recently subsribed to a magazine that I cannot get very easily here but they have it online. I can read it online and print out any pages that I'd like. It stays online in my account and I can go back anytime to continue it. I like it. http://www.zinio.com/
I stopped reading running magazines for the same reason but there are so many holes in my photography knowledge that glossy pages of rehashed info is what I'm after.
I have to admit though, that reading this for a couple of years now, I also notice that this site starts to repeat. I guess this is a natural process: repeat or bleed to death.
I love my monthly Popular Photography magazine. My Dad was getting that 30 years ago when I was learning photography. Alway learn from what it brings, and I can enjoy it over a meal and a beer at the local pub.
Don't read much magazines these days as I tend to look for stuff on the Net. But still by the occasional mag now and again, and its always Practical Photography!
I love Outdoor Photographer. I get it through Zinio, so I can always go back and look through previous issues without needing a separate room to store all of them, lol. Yes, some of it is repetitive, but I like some review now and then! Plus, I like reading new product reviews, and admiring other photographers' work.
I started reading Outdoor Photographer as well. The articles are short and to the point and they cover a wide range of topics with helpful hints. Buy a couple copies of whatever magazine or check them out online before subscribing to make sure you like it. Subscribing is way cheaper then buying single issues at the store. @hjv is right, magazines do repeat themselves, but you'll get new material for a couple of years. You also have the option of subscribing digitally which is cheaper then getting a hard copy.
We used to have these stores in town where you could go buy books and magazines. It was like Amazon but in 3D and no shipping charges. Then people like me started buying kindles and those stores are gone.
I get withdrawn copies of Amateur Photographer from the library from time to time for 10 pence. I like the letters page and dear old Roger Hicks - he was probably a contributor when I first encountered AP in the 70s. The only magazine I'll pay full price for is Black + White Photography: that's an occasional treat.
@grizzlysghost You'd probably like Photo then (the French one).

In the meantime, my fave is B&W Magazine. Love it!

@grizzlysghost Talk about continuously repeating itself.
