Help!! I need a photography business name!!

July 2nd, 2013
Hey guys! :)

I know I posted a discussion earlier, but once again, I need some help!
My photography is rapidly becoming more popular in my town, and people are wanting me to take pictures for them, and I'm going to start selling some of my pictures at local farmer markets! :) So exciting!

Well now I have been thinking about stuff, and I want to do some amazing things!!

1.) I want to create a business name!
Well my name is Brittany Yingling, you can obviously see that. I either want something that incorporates my name, or incorporates with certain words (ex. Beauty, Elegance, Love, etc.) So I'm hoping you guys could help me choose a name!

2.) I want to make my own Logo or Watermark! :)
This is the most exciting part, because I like being creative, but I just need some inspiration - oh, and a software to help! haha. It could be an online software or a free download.

So, 365'ers, could you help me out? It means alot!
Thanks y'all! :)

First, I would suggest that you look into a master business license (here in Washington State that is the route to go). The name there is an umbrella name that will cover whatever you want to do business as. From there you have your DBAs (doing business as; or trade names). That way, you can buy wholesale with the master license while doing business in your trade name.

Oh, there are fees for the license and you will have to pay tax, if applicable on what you sell (some states tax services).

Good luck on your venture.

@byrdlip yeah I actually just talked to my friends mom, who owns her photography business, and she said i could work with her. But I am still going to sell pictures on my own time, but even then, shouldnt I use some type of watermark on my photos when I put them online, so nobody takes them?

Consider putting your "name" on the back of the print then it does ruin what would otherwise a good image. Many watermarks on the front of the image are distracting or destroying the image.

@chapjohn yeah i planned on doing that, but i just wanted to see what every one else thought was better. Thanks!

I don't print pics with a watermark. When framed, it ruins the balance. You can always sign the mat in pencil just under the photo with the name of the pic and your name.

Don't overthink your business name. Sometimes people have trouble connecting a name to a specific person. I took my crazy life, and named it after that. Everyone around me gets it. Keep it simple. Also, test a name with a gmail or yahoo address and google it as an existing website. If you are wanting to be totally independent, look to the future. You will want your business name, email address, and website to be the same. @brittanyyingling
