A friend of mine has just called me with a question. She has recently been given several undeveloped rolls of 35mm film which were shot about 40 years ago by her grandmother.
She isn't expecting anything too wonderful from them but would like to try to get them developed. I assume that they will need some careful handling if they are so old.
Can anyone recommend anywhere in the UK that would be able to do this please?
I'd just send them to fujifilm with a note included as long as they are just regular 35mm. But not hold her breath, heat can haze film so depending where they were kept, if exposed to the change of temps during the year. Radiators and sunshine would have played havoc with them. http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk/
its in Burnley but they do postal service and their price is as good as anywhere, and they got mad skills.
regards the age, I think the emulsion gets thin over time and the ISO sensitivity changes, but thats pre-shooting, once they are used I reckon they might be pretty stable apart from the heat issue.
I know Peter has developed and used some super old film: @peterdegraaff

Afraid that I don't know what the brands are, but I will pass the info on to my friend.
Interesting that the film becomes more stable after it has been exposed.
Thanks again!
