Why would anyone do this?!
It seems her profile has been removed as a result. I don't understand the need to post others shots and claim them as your own!
I think it was probably a young person. With the social media culture of Twitter/Tumblr, some people just like to post things that they find and like online, it isn't malicious....it's just that this site isn't meant for that. :) @clairelouise@mikeswaja@kporte@parisouailleurs@scrivna
I would imagine as @stacypie pointed out this is just a case of someone using 365 as a "pinterest" style service. I'm sure they were not being malicious at all.
@stillcrappysailor Yeah...my kids do it all the time on their FB page. All the more reason to watermark. For some reason, I watermark on everything I upload, except for the pics I put here.
To me, for some reason, 365 is sacred ground where everyone is awesome and plays fair. I've been here for over a year, and I think its the best photography site on the web! :)
@thomastoth - the watermarking thing is always a hot topic. I for one marked my pictures during my first go at 365. Now I'm of the mindset that I would actually be flattered if someone stole my photos. ;-D
I mean isn't it just unfair for someone who literally goes on everyday to take out one's camera and capture "a day in your life" and post on 365 but goes unnoticed? I think 365 is not about going over google image search and post the best photo you could possibly find.
@stacypie Exactly. She didn't say they were hers, she didn't even put a description for most of them, but I did see a few that said she shared them. No watermarks, just a pinning account.
@altadc it's definitely supposed to be original work, whether documenting your daily life or showing off your mad skills...but as I said, there are other sites that are specifically for reposting things - the person who posted the birds was new and probably just uneducated about the type of site that this is.
As far as unfair, if you mean getting an unoriginal photo on the PP...well I guess it would seem unfair, but they aren't hand selected, and a lot of people liked the bird shot because it was cool and they probably all thought it was original because they don't have the keen eye for detail that you do :)
The person who posted the image was a follower/following and while I don't condone this, I do think some people feel pressure to post great images because the quality here is so high. It's easy to be disappointed with your own images when viewed alongside some of the great stuff here... or be inspired and strive to develop your own images to a higher level. You make your own choice...
Yup. That person has gone. It is a bit of a shame that someone feels the need to repost someone else's work. I must admit that if I am inspired by something enough to have a go at it myself then I let people know in the description e.g my shot for today). As for the PP. I have given up trying to fathom out what does / doesn't make it there and count it as a bonus if a pic of mine does make it!
It's no excuse to plagerize. I think we all are taught this all through school, yet we do get people here who claim they didn't know that is what they are doing. Really????? What do they think they are doing? Especially when they are getting the accolades for taking the photo and saying nothing. Well, if anything, this group is pretty good at ferreting out this type of activity.
@stacypie Stacy--I hope this is true in most cases of "sharing" a photo that belongs to someone else here on the 365! @therubysusan I'm thrilled with one comment, too!

(Even if I've never been on the PP! LOL!)
