Error - No Card in Camera

April 18th, 2014
Problem solved. I blew some air into the slot and must have cleared some dust or something that was causing a break in the connection between the card and my camera. Yay!

Help! I went to take some shots for today and when I put my sd card in my Canon 60D it read No Card in Camera. It worked perfectly fine yesterday. I searched discussions and did not see anything about this and the internet wasn't much help. I may just have to send it to canon but wanted to check here first.

Anyone else have this problem?

Go buy a new card and try that. Or first, did you try to reformat the old card? It could have been corrupted if you remove it from the camera to put into a PC/Mac card reader. Format it in the camera not the PC, remember. The camera has to create a few default directories.

@frankhymus So, I'm freaking out and my 16 year old says "It's probably like the Nintendo DS, just blow in the slot to clear any dust". So, I did, and it worked!! I think that I was just so upset about it that I wasn't thinking clearly and my quick search on the internet turned up all sorts of stuff. Thank you for your quick reply Frank, I really appreciate your help!

mine do that sometimes and I take them out and put them back in a couple of times and then they work - maybe that will work

I need to clean everything. I'm an irresponsible camera owner who doesn't properly clean her gear. That sort of thing can lead to a misfire. I even have a little cleaning kit that came with some lens or something but I don't so much know how to do it and I'm afraid that I'll damage something.

I once broke a chandelier trying to clean it.

@annied Thanks Annie! I tried the in and out a couple of times like you but it didn't work, so I was really getting concerned. I appreciate your reply!

@aponi Haha Kathryn! You sound like me and I think that's what happened. I take my sd card out to put in my computer and then put my camera back in my backpack (responsible) but leave the sd card slot open (irresponsible) so that's probably when the dust or whatever got it. Thanks for replying!

@aponi Oh phew.. I'm not the only one! I am abusive. One reason I wanted the Sony A700.. it's known to have a rugged body :-)
