I have been asked to take a photo for a Christmas present for someone who wants a picture of her father (60), brother (35) and son (5)'s hands as she is always amazed at the likeness between them.
I have seen lots of black and white photos of mixed generations' hands piled up, holding each other etc etc, while I think these work with women I think it would look a bit contrived for the 35 year old to be holding his Dad's hand (they're not really the 'touchy-feely' kind of men.) I have thought about doing a triptych with a shot of each of them holding something that represents their interests/personalities (car keys, beer glass, toy or suchlike) or individual shots of the men's hands wearing their (very nice!) watches, and the little boy with a toy/kiddie watch.) The final product will probably be taken in natural light and will be black and white.
As you have probably guessed by now, I am dithering...... this really does take me out of my comfort zone.
So, any ideas or examples would be gratefully received please.
If you could get matching glass beer mugs in different sizes, then beer in the men's and soft drink in the boy's? See if you can get them all to hold the glass in the same way..
A baseball bat? Oldest on the bottom. You know how they do it to decide who goes first (or whatever they do it for) It would be hard to see their whole hand, though. I'm guessing it's the fingers that look the most alike so maybe at an angel where you see their fingers wrapped around the bat?
